About our school

Lorain Bilingual Academy is a public charter school serving students in kindergarten through 8th grade in Lorain, Ohio. Ohio rates every school on an annual report card, and Lorain Bilingual Academy earned 4 Stars for both Progress and Gap Closing in 2024–25. That means students here are making more than a year of academic growth on average, and the school is closing gaps between student groups at a rate that exceeds state standards.
Bilingual education is built into every school day — not offered as a separate track. Students learn in both English and their home language every day, and the same teacher works with your child in both languages across the school year, building the same relationship in both languages, all year long. Bilingual instruction isn't a supplement to the core program here. It's how the core program works. Your child doesn't fall behind in one language to advance in the other. Progress happens in both at the same time.
Lorain Bilingual Academy is also the only bilingual school in the city of Lorain — which means families here aren't choosing between language and academics. They're getting both, and their child's home language is treated as something to build on, not something to leave at the door.
It's a publicly funded school. There's no tuition, no fees, and no cost to families.
- Free breakfast and lunch for all students
